OAUG Certificate of Distinction Award Winner

2008, 2007, and 2006

The Archive & Purge Special Interest Group of OAUG was formed in February 2003 due to the growing interest in Archiving and Purging data from corporations Oracle business systems, including Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft and JD Edwards.   Today over 600 members on the Archive & Purge SIG mailing list actively take part in and contribute to the Archive & Purge SIG meetings.  The meetings are one to two hour orientation and informational sessions held in conjunction with the annual OAUG and Oracle OpenWorld events.

The Archive and Purge SIG is planning to take our large body of presentations on the road, across the US.  Watch for upcoming events in your area.

The next meeting of the Archive and Purge SIG will be held at Collaborate, May 3, 2009 in Orlando.

If you are looking for the Return on Investment presentation from Collaborate 08, please see the Meetings page.

The SIG is planning a presentation at Collaborate on an implementation of Archiving and Purging.  Plan on attending this great session.

Goals

  • Achieve maximum business value from our investment in Oracle Applications.
  • Share experiences from using Oracle products and services with other Archive & Purge SIG members and learn from their experiences.
  • Influence direction and improve the products through communication and cooperation with Oracle.
  • Provide a forum for sharing knowledge and news from all sources with other Archive & Purge SIG members.
  • Encourage broad use of the Oracle products through dialogue.

Special Interest Groups (SIG's)

OAUG's Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are focused on particular aspects of Oracle Applications. Whether the group works with a particular application or in a particular industry, SIGs provide the information needed to maximize your Oracle Applications investment.

Archive & Purge Special Interest Group (A&P SIG)

The Archive & Purge Special Interest Group (A&P SIG) was set up to address issues relevant to enterprise application archiving, and will focus on best practices, statutory compliance, data management - storage, retrieval & access, patch management and enhancements to Oracle's archive and purge functionality.  The A&P SIG provides a means for members to learn about future enhancements and to submit strategic enhancement requests to Oracle Corporation in data lifecycle management.

SIG Charter

The A&P SIG provides a forum for sharing information and experiences about installation, configuration, implementation, maintenance and continued support of Oracle Applications (all modules and releases) archiving and purging solutions.  The A&P SIG will collaborate with Oracle and third-party vendors for developing standards and benchmarks for data, images and reports, archive and purge functionality as well as improving Applications performance, reliability and return-on-investment.  A&P SIG will also focus on best practices, statutory compliance; data management - storage, retrieval & access; patch management and enhancements of archive/purge functionality.

Relationship with OAUG

The Archive & Purge SIG operates within the auspices of the Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) and is governed by its by-laws.  The A&P SIG is unique because Oracle is not the only vendor to provide archiving and purging functionality.  In addition, there are four (4) other vendors who provide this capability for the Oracle Applications.  Each vendor is provided an at-large seat on the organizing committee.  This way all the key players in the industry are involved.
